Hello! I’m Alex, and this is my website.
I’m a freelance writer and television critic based in London. Over the past five years I’ve had bylines at Yahoo, Metro, Flickering Myth, CultBox and more; I’ve written a range of reviews, opinion-pieces, and features. I’ve conducted numerous interviews with Oscar-nominated actors, writers and directors, while also particularly specialising in in-depth discussions with behind-the-scenes talent such as composers, sound engineers and costume designers. My articles regularly tap into the national conversation, and I’ve been invited onto BBC Radio 5 Live and LBC to discuss ideas raised in different pieces.
This website is where you can find (just about) everything I’ve written over the past few years. If you’re looking for something in particular, you can check out the index, which is a meticulously and comprehensively organised account of my work; if you’re looking for a more general starting point, my portfolio can be found here, and is as good an introduction as any to my writing, my interests, and the mistakes I never quite stop making.
Over on the about page you can find out a little bit more about me as a person, while the testimonials page should tell you a little bit about what I’m like to work with, with accounts from editors, co-workers and clients. I’m always available for commission or media appearances; if that’s something you’d like to discuss, you can find my contact details here.
From time to time, I’ll update this page with news and similar about what I’m up to, and what you can expect from the site in the coming months. In the meantime, though, all that’s left to say is thank you for taking a moment to visit my site; I hope there’s something here that you find, at the very least, mildly interesting.
